Workforce Readiness - A challenge to

~ Ensure that today's and tomorrow's workforce has the skills, competencies and behaviors to succeed in today's and tomorrow's workplace.

~ Ensure that today's and tomorrow's workplace maximizes the potential of today's and tomorrow's workforce.

Are you aware of and using all available local resources when hiring individuals to fill positions on your team?  Are you aware of educational opportunities students currently have including technologies in use?  Can your organization provide employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities? What are employment barriers job seekers are facing? What challenges do graduating students face? How do individuals overcome the stigma associated with felonies? What is the NAR doing to recruit individuals back to our community? How can the NAHRA assist in keeping students interested in school and reducing dropout rates? These are some important questions that we will learn more about and address at the July 2011 meeting.

Join us July 14 as we discuss Workforce Readiness issues! In addition to our ongoing Workforce Readiness initiative, ABC...Adopt a classroom Build a Community, we have invited local organizations to visit with the HR Association regarding what is going on in their organizations and what needs they have that the HR association can meet.

Tentatively the following organizations will present to NAHRA:

    Bernie Craven, Vocational Rehabilitation

    Terri Heggemeyer, Northeast Community College

Bob Lowe, Deputy Chief Probation Officer, State Probation office in Norfolk

    Audrey Cravatt, NAR
