Management in Your Face(book)!
Come hear the experiences and results of one middle-aged HR professional’s attempt to become relevant with, and actually benefit from, the use of social media as it relates to management and the HR profession. Eleven months ago, Craig Garrett, SPHR launched himself into a completely, non-scientific study of social media. This entertaining and informative session promises to guide you, the social media novice, through the social media maze! This session will provide the foundation and resources for you to begin developing a strategic social media program within your organization. Craig will share his thoughts on books and resources he used as well as passages from his own “Social Media Journal”. As an aside, he’ll share how social media has benefited him personally and professionally as well as how much his “coolness” factor has increased with his teenage kids…not so much!
This presentation is desgined to help the person who feels like social media has passed them by. Attendees at this session will learn:
-
What social media is and how it’s changing the way we conduct business and management activities
-
Understand the unique challenges and pitfalls related to social media and managing employees.
-
Why social media is important to them and their organization.
-
How to find out what is being communicated via social media about their organization (and themselves).
-
How to get started with social media (personally and professionally).
This program is important to and relevant for Management and Human Resource professionals because social media is changing the rules for how we manage our businesses and our employees. Companies no longer own their “brand” – branding and reputation is in the hands of our customers and employees now. We must know what is being said and be able to respond accordingly in order to remain competitive and relevant.
