Program Description and Objectives:
“Medicare for HR Professionals” offers basic knowledge of the Medicare program. We will review the benefits available to the employees in your organization, when they enroll into Medicare and the potential cost of using the program. We will discuss enrollment periods, who can and should sign up, what they should consider before enrolling; and, finally where and when they should sign up.
Many individuals in the workforce are aging into Medicare or thinking about retirement. Generally, as HR Professionals, you are expected to help these members of your organization understand what they should consider as they begin to enter a new phase of their life. “Medicare for HR Professionals” offers you the basic knowledge to understand what those members of your organization are considering, how those options are affected by their work status or coverage and where you can send them for more detailed assistance.
Nebraska SHIIP provides free, confidential and unbaised Medicare education and counseling to Nebraskas. SHIIP (Senior Healthcare Insurance Information Program) does not sell or endorse any insurance compnay or insurance product. SHIIP is a federally funded program and is a division of the Nebraswka Department of Insurance.
About the Presenter - Jonathan Burlison
Johnathan serves as a Regional Representative and the Outreach Coordinator for Nebraska SHIIP, joining the team in February of 2017. Prior to joining SHIIP, he was a member of the Administrative Services team at the Department of Insurance, primarily working with Accounting but also assisting HR.
Duties within the Department have allowed him to serve as the Coordinator of Departments State Charitable Giving Campaign, earning State recognition as Team MVP in 2015 and 2016. He also served as a Wellness Champion, earning the Wellness Champion Award in 2016. His work also earned the Department of Insurance the Culture of Wellness Award, the same year.
Working with SHIIP allows him to continue helping individuals in Nebraska, in a much larger capacity. He enjoys working with the public and looks forward to serving the State of Nebraska for many years to come.
As a Certified SHIIP Counselor, he has completed training specific to understanding the Medicare program. The day to day duties of his profession allow him discuss the topic of Medicare daily and provides him the opportunity to learn more on the subject with individual cases.
